Indian Music & Language Study Tour
Itinerary
Arrive in Varanasi, the spiritual and cultural capital of India. Check in at your student-friendly accommodation and join an orientation session introducing the Banaras Gharana of classical music and the linguistic richness of the region.
In the evening, experience your first taste of Kashi’s soul through a live Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, focusing on the rhythm and melody of devotional chants.
Dinner and overnight stay in Varanasi.
Begin your morning with a classical music workshop conducted by a local maestro — covering basic ragas, taal (rhythmic cycles), and the philosophy of Indian sound.
Students can choose between vocal (Hindustani music) or instrumental (sitar, tabla, flute) training sessions.
Post-lunch, visit the Faculty of Performing Arts (BHU) to interact with music students and professors, observing ongoing rehearsals or classes.
Evening cultural performance by local artists. Overnight stay in Varanasi.
Start with a basic Sanskrit and Hindi language session, focusing on pronunciation, script, and conversational phrases.
Interactive learning through traditional songs, slokas, and storytelling enhances understanding of India’s linguistic traditions.
In the afternoon, participate in a cross-cultural exchange session with local students — discussing culture, education, and music in India.
Evening walk through Vishwanath Gali and Godowlia Market for linguistic immersion and real-world practice. Overnight stay in Varanasi.
Morning visit to Vishwanath Temple and Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, both deeply connected to musical traditions — where bhajans and classical renditions are still performed.
Later, explore Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum (BHU) to study ancient musical instruments, manuscripts, and cultural artifacts.
Evening interactive jamming session with local artists — blending modern and traditional music styles. Overnight stay in Varanasi.
After breakfast, students participate in a mini music recital or presentation, performing what they’ve learned during the tour — vocal or instrumental.
Conclude with a certificate distribution and reflection session, discussing key learning experiences in music, language, and cultural understanding.
Transfer to airport or railway station with a deeper appreciation for the timeless art of Indian sound and speech.
